INTEGRATION PROGRESS REPORT – January 2008

INTEGRATION TEAM UPDATES, January 2008

Hello my dear friends and colleagues.  This is just a quick little update on the latest news and activity in our Integration with Religious Science International. Since our historic meeting on September 11, 2007 when the leadership of both organizations agreed to move forward with an official integration of the organizations, some key activities and decisions have taken place.  At that meeting, the leadership if both organizations agreed to allow what was then the Vision Bridge Team to become the official Integration Team.  We have had a phone conference in November and an in-person meeting on January 14, 2008.

The primary thrust of those meetings has been, where do we go from here?  What are the activities we need to be in the midst of to bring this divine idea into manifestation?

Following is a brief bullet-point synopsis of some of the key activities, decisions and recommendations we are in the midst of now:

-We have retained Rev. Deborah Johnson as a consultant and to help guide us through this process

-Both organizations have agreed to be open in our dialogue, communications and sharing of information with one another

-Rev. Dr. Kathy Hearn will attend the RSI Ministers Conference in New Jersey, March 2008

-Rev. Dr. Kenn Gordon will attend the UCSL Gathering in Kansas City March 2008

-All future conferences will be opened to anyone from either organization who wants to attend

-We’ve established September 11-12, 2008 in Denver as a possible joint RSI/UCSL meeting for the Sr. Ministers and/or one other minister from all of our covenant members

-Our youth leadership is gearing up for a joint National Youth Camp for summer of 2010 and every year thereafter

-Our first official joint Gathering/Leadership Conference will be in 2010 (if our previous financial commitments allow) or at latest 2011 (at this point neither organization has any financially secured commitments for that year).

-We will work on ways to officially integrate each others participation in our respective conferences until our first official joint conference

-We’ve identified the leadership in the following areas of our respective organizations; education, branding/marketing, conferences, finance, governance, by-laws, personnel, licensing & credentials, magazine, ministerial school, ministry growth & expansion, practitioners, social action, spiritual practices, youth

-We’ve asked that the leadership in all of these areas get with one another, get to know one another and discuss ways in which they can work together and integrate

-We’ve created a template to help guide them in their discussions in each of these areas

-We need to get the leadership of our UCORS and the RSI equivalent together to discuss ways they can integrate

-Senior Ministers (Pastors) and Ordained Ministers be allowed to freely candidate for open pulpits in both organizations

-Licensed Practitioners be allowed to freely affiliate with any church from either organization

-Any new teams or committees will consist of people from each organization

-We’ll look at ways to integrate the teams and committees that are already functioning

-We strongly encourage all of our churches and ministries to reach out to one another, have joint social functions, seminars and activities

-At our Gathering, Ministers Convocation and Asilomar space will be created to allow folk to express reservations, concerns, trepidation.  Dr. Kathy is even looking into the possibility of creating various phone conferences for this to happen very soon

-The next phone conference meeting for the Integration Team is set for April 1, 2008 and our next in person meeting is July 14, 2008 in San Juan Capistrano

As you can see quite a bit of activities, decisions and recommendations have been underway.  We also are aware that the process will be somewhat impaired on our part due to the move of our central operations to Denver in June/July 2008.  If any of you have any ideas, suggestions or areas you think/feel we should be mindful of that are not covered here, please feel free to contact us.  In addition, if any of you have any particular skills, expertise or passion and want to offer your service to this divine idea in any form, please inform Dr. Kathy. For your information the Integration Team consist of Kenn Gordon, Candace Becket, Jim Lockard, Jim Turrell, Madelyn Wade, Heather Clarke from RSI along with Kathy Hearn, Roger Juline, Karen Weingard, Sandy Moore and Nirvana Gayle from UCSL.
